How Important Is Your Financial Freedom?

One thing that you don’t hear people talk about much when it comes to achieving financial freedom is how important it really is. We just assume that because we want freedom with our personal finances that wanting is enough. Sometimes it’s not enough.

You need to have an absolute burning desire which compels you to do what it takes day in, day out for as long as you need to in order to succeed in building wealth or in achieving financial independence. What does it take to build this kind of desire and discipline?

It takes more than just motivation; it takes an honest look at how important it really is for you to achieve your financial goal. Once you honestly confront these things, you’ll have a much better look at what’s holding you back and be able to better position yourself for success.

The following are some simple questions which you can ask yourself to get an honest look at how important your financial desire really is to you.

Are you keeping track of your spending?

If you aren’t keeping track of your spending, you don’t have a clear enough picture of where you are financially and it’s impossible to assess what needs to change. Even if you’re living paycheck to paycheck, if you’re not keeping record of what you’re spending and how much you’re spending on it, you can’t know for sure what your options are.

Do you have a specific plan?

If you still don’t have a specific plan for how you’re going to achieve financial independence, you haven’t really decided to do it yet. You’re still in the “thinking about it” stage, and thinking about financial freedom will never bring it about. You have to take action and that action has to be focused and deliberate. This can ONLY happen when you have a specific written plan, which is why a written plan is an indication of how serious you are about having financial freedom.

Are you dedicated to your financial education?

When you really, really want something that you don’t already have, you need to learn how to get it and that means consistently educating yourself about it. How much reading are you doing about how to achieve financial freedom and what are you doing to make sure that the information which you take in becomes a part of your lifestyle and your habits? Again, this will indicate how serious you are about achieving financial freedom.

Honestly ask yourself these questions and if you’re not doing what you need to in order to achieve financial freedom, honestly ask yourself why. The answer might just lead you to uncover what has been holding you back.
