However, few people realize how closely related these things which thus makes it harder for them to work on both at the same time.

In another one of my articles I mentioned that financial freedom is more of a lifestyle than a goal, and this is certainly true when it comes to the importance of life balance and achieving financial freedom.

For example, if your life is out of balance it will cause a lot of unneeded stress on your body. Stress causes illness and illness can lead to expensive medical bills, especially later in life. Stress also reduces your ability to focus and execute your financial plan and to stay hopeful when things aren’t going well financially.

Also, having a life which is out of balance also creates emotional tension which many people seek to resolve by spending money on things which they really don’t need. I can write pages about the ways in which life balance affects your ability to achieve financial freedom, but I’m sure you get the idea. Let’s look at a few solutions for getting your life in better balance.

First, Decide What Really Matters

When a person’s life is out of balance, it usually has nothing to do with an ability to multitask or to balance different compartments of life. Instead, it has more to do with your ability to determine the value of things and to decide where to focus your energy. Once you’re done reading this article, sit down and make a list of all the things that you would do if you only had 10 years left to live. Really be honest with yourself about what matters and what doesn’t and start crossing things off of your list. What you’ll find out from doing this is that many of the things which are demanding your time and energy right now really aren’t that important.

Keep this list with you and start working on your lifestyle depending on what you have decided is really important for you to do before you die. This alone will get rid of a lot of the things which are keeping you from having a well-balanced life.

Second, Get Really Good at Saying No to Things

People who have trouble with life balance usually feel like they need to do everything that they’re good at and everything that they are interested in. This is a certain route to failure and frustration, and this is why it’s important for you to get really good at saying no to good things and yes to only the best. Start asking yourself this question whenever you’re presented with an opportunity to do something which will take your time or energy: “Is this task or commitment consistent with my overall purpose and with achieving life balance and financial freedom?” If the answer is no, this is a perfect opportunity to exercise your “no muscle” and start taking charge of your life again.

So get to work on these two things right away and start developing the life balance which you’ll need in order to focus on your plan for achieving financial freedom.
